Steps To Configure SSH On A Cisco Router

The whole configuration comprises five steps

       Hostname
       IP Domain Name
       Create SSH Key
       Create a user
       Enable SSH

To get started, open up the router command window then follow the below steps

    Type enable and press enter
    Type conf t.and press enter
    Under the switch config, type hostname and hit Enter key.
    Now you need to put up the IP Domain name. To do so, type IP domain-name. Press enter.
    Now type crypto key generates a and press Enter.

    So for the better protection, type 1024 b and hit enter.
    In order to enable the SSH, type line vty 0 15 (Note: Here 15 represent the number of channels located on your router).

    Enter your username and password.
    Type line vty 0 15 again and press enter.
    Type login and hit enter
    In the next line, type exit to wrap up the configuration.
    Now go back to the putty configuration window and type the IP address.
    Click OK to open the putty command window.
