Try performing a Ping test to see
that your connection is intact or not. To perform this test, you must type
"Ping" in the command prompt followed by the IP address of the site
you want to ping. For instance, to ping Yahoo, type Ping Yahoo.com. This
forwards the data packet to the target website and measures how fast your
internet connection is. See the timed results if the test is successful. If it
fails, try pinging several other websites. If this failed then there might a
problem with your router or modem.
Look at the notification LED on
your router if there is no light on the device then try to check its power
connection. Once you ensure the power connector is good, turn on the device by
pressing the power switch on the router. If the failure to boots up, your
device may be dealing with failed power adapter, power strip, or a fried
router. Replace the concern parts with the legitimate one. If your router
doesn’t have the LED indicators, see if
the Ethernet port lights are flashing at the back of the router. Make sure that
each cable is seated correctly in the port.
The last thing you can do to avoid
this issue is to update the firmware of the router. Firmware is an embedded
software which comes preloaded in the router ROM chips from the OEM. Most OEM
offers downloadable firmware updates to fix the performance glitches in the
router. If your device firmware is outdated, make sure to update it away.
